RUMELI FORTRESS

Rumeli Fortress is one of the most serenity place i found in Istanbul. During my first visit to Rumeli Fortress, it was april and there are so many bird chirp, amazing İstanbul Bosphorus view. I was fascinated.

In 1452, before the conquest of İstanbul, Built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet opposite shore of the Anatolian Fortress. Built on the narrowest part of the Bosphorus. Because it would dominate the Bosphorus.

There are 4 big castle in the Rumeli Fortress. They are known with the name of pashas who are on the control.  They names are “Saruca Pasha”, “Halil Pasha”, “Büyük Zağanos Pasha” ve “Küçük Zağanos Pasha”.

Due to the earthquake in Istanbul in 1509 and the fire in 1746, it received much damage. In 1953, during the reign of President Celal Bayar, 3 Turkish female architects were given a restoration for 13 years and it is now in its present form. Nowadays it hosts open air theaters and concerts in summer.

I recommend to those who want to have a quiet getaway in Istanbul. You can sit on the benches and enjoy the view of the Bosphorus.
