ISTANBUL DESSERTS

Hello everybody ! I want to talk about my favorite desserts in Istanbul. Which desserts should be eaten in Istanbul? Chocolate, baklava, künefe, katmer.. every one of them are traditional dessert for Turkish People.

1-ASUMAN

When I enter the sweet crisis, Asuman comes to mind first. Handmade milk, white and bitter chocolates and strawberries and bananas meet. You can even take handmade chocolate bars and their unique Nutella for home. Prices 20-25 liras.

20 minutes walk from Söğütlüçeşme Metrobus station.

ASUMAN CHOCOLATE WORKING HOURS: Open 7 days, between 12: 00-23: 30.

2-WILLY WONKA

Do you know Charlie’s Chocolate Factory? It is in Istanbul. It is very small but you will fascinates with presentations and taste. Their dessert presentations are very different. Belgian chocolate ‘happiness boat’ (Mutluluk Sandalı). Chocolate, ice cream and fruit combination ‘Summer Garden’ (Yaz Bahçesi). Cake blended with milk-white chocolate mixture ‘Baloon’ (Balon). Fondue for 2 person is look like ferris wheel.

Prices 20-25 liras. Ferris Wheel is 45 liras but it is enough for 3 person.

SULEYMANIYE CHOCOLATOR (SÜLEYMANİYE ÇİKOLATACISI)


Our another favorite is the Süleymaniye Chocolator. This dessert was the only reason for happiness during the exam weeks. A place designed with the Ottoman concept. It’s a small 4-storey building and has completely handmade chocolates just like Asuman. White, milk and dark chocolate. The names of the desserts are Bezmara, Berefşan (souffle), Hurrem and a few others, but I forgot their names. The menu is with a photo, you can easily choose whichever is good for you. Our favorites were white Bezmara, Berefşan and ice cream.

Address: Kalenderhane,34134 Fatih/İstanbul. It is a 2-minute walk from Vezneciler metro station. You can also reach the Laleli or Beyazıt tram station with a 10-minute walk.

  • Sunday: 12:00-23:00

ASİ KÜNEFE

Now let’s talk about our traditional desserts. Katmer is making al lot of pistachios, very tiny dough and sherbet. When you come to Turkey, you should not return without eating. And Kadayıf is so delicious too. It has 3 branches.

KADIKÖY ZEKERİYA USTA


The homeland of Katmer dessert is Gaziantep. And I ate Katmer in Gaziantep in Turkey after this time I couldn’t eat Katmer in Istanbul. Because Gaziantep’s Katmer was very delicion. So I am happy to say: It had a branch in Istanbul!

HACI ŞERİF

You might come across many parts of Turkey as well. It is our favorite dessert that we sometimes see as street delicacies. Semolina halva with ice cream and Tahini is poured on top. If you want to sit you can sit or you can take away. Sold in small, medium and large. 2 branches will be ideal for you.
